Regulations for World War I German U-Boats:

Description:  Presented are two original design manuals for World War I German U-Boats (U-Boots). These are guaranteed vintage, original documents. Both books are printed in old German Gebrochene Schrift (Broken Script) or Fraktur and typewriter font typeface. They are bound in burnt red leather over hardboard and utilize a very unique “loop stitch-sliding band three point” binding system. The cover graphics are embossed with gold gild. The books contain both text and drawings and addenda clips & inserts with handwritten notes, addenda and corrections. Some of the drawings show multi-colored overlay of the piping systems. The books contain no photographs. All notes and markings are original to World War I. The books are very clean with no water marks, eared, folded or torn pages. Minor page edge curling exists due to age.  The binding is solid and intact. Of course, the paper is sepia colored, again, due to normal aging. The books are in excellent condition, close to being mint considering that they are over one hundred years old. No printing dates for the books are indicated, however each section for each respective submarine is indicated and some of the pages are 1912, 1914, 1917, etc. These books were assembled for specific U-Boats as outlined herein. Because of the pristine condition I believe these were after construction “as-built” record documents and not, actually, used during the construction process. These are extremely rare documents and most likely the only books of this type in existence save some possible archive or museum specimens. I have been collecting for over 50 years and have never seen any such documents. I have spent untold hours searching the internet and have not found anything close. I purchase the books from a lady in the in 2000. I hate to see these go. Probably my all time favorite collectible.

Book One consists of approximately 100 pages including multi-fold fold out drawings. This book covers U-Boots No’s.1, 2, 6, 8, 10, 11, 12, 13, and 14.

Book Two consists of approximately 173 pages including multi-fold fold out drawings. This book covers U-Boots No’s.1, 2, 3, 6, 7, 8, 9,

10, 11, 12, 13, and 14.
